Description

Glenbard District 87 consists of 8,100 students from the western suburbs of Chicago. Our district uses research-based frameworks such as SAMR (Dr. R. Puentedura) and 21st Century Skills. As we went 1:1, we identified a need for PD to help teachers use tech tools in meaningful ways and leverage the tech to create more student-centered, deep learning tasks.

The Innovators consisted of 40 teachers who met for 5 days throughout  year. The cohort was a cycle of modeling, instruction, lesson design, implementation, and reflection. Teachers had time to collaborate, design, and reflect. This book includes a discussion of our rationale, descriptions of each professional development day, and teacher spotlights with lesson ideas.
